Digital Sound Level Meters are acoustic measurements devices that contain a small diaphragm that responds to the changes in air pressure caused by sound waves. This movement of the diaphragm, i.e. the sound pressure deviation, is converted into an electrical signal (Volts).
Ordinarily hand-held, the best DSL Meters include a condenser microphone. Microphone sensitivity is affected by the voltage value produced when a known, constant sound pressure is applied.
Digital Sound Level Meters are also known as sound pressure level meters (SPL)
